Poison is a mobile app that can help user protecting their online identity from malicious uses. Poison could be an antidote to AI photo-generative software.
Problem
With the rise of AI generative software, the possibilities seems endless with just a few prompts. Recently, these AI platforms has been able to generate hyper realistic medias of a real person by just using a single portrait. So what is real, what is not? More than ever, our online identity is at risk for being used for deepfakes.
Solution
To keep up with an increase in online privacy demand. I want to design a mobile app with its main goal is helping users protecting their identity online. The app can also let users upload their image and look up to see if their features have been used in other AI generative apps without consent. The app also provide educational resources for online privacy that the users can access easily within a few tap.
Feature Concepts
The app's standout feature, the image search, distinguishes it from other photo apps. Users can find and report deepfake content through provided links or enable notifications to stay informed. Additionally, a call-to-action informs users about AI regulations.
Users can also interact with POISON - an AI assistant, answering the user’s questions as a specialist on online privacy.

I decided to use the neon green as the primary colour because it is attention grabbing, associate with tech, symbolic (‘The Matrix’ in pop culture). When thinking about neon green, we also associate it with poison. The name of the app, 'Poison,' suggests a protective measure against something harmful—in this case, the misuse of images.
For the app interface, I prefer to use dark theme because it reduces eye strain in low-light conditions, saves battery life on devices with OLED screens, and offers a modern, sleek aesthetic that can enhance visual ergonomics and comfort for users.

I had the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects throughout my 3-month IBM/SLiDE internship. One of these projects was with the Ottawa Community Benefits Network (OCBN), where I collaborated with their committees to set up a new WordPress website that reflected their new branding and effectively communicated their message.
“ Ly is a very talented worker able to take on new challenges and deliver quality work product. A star performer “ - Kevin Holmes, SLiDE Lab Director
Another notable project was with the National Children's Botanical Garden of Canada (NCBNC), where I created an animated intro and logo for their upcoming video series, 'RavenFlix', and also created virtual backgrounds for video conferences using their branding and logo, as well as assisting with the configuration and optimization of their website.
“I can’t thank you enough – beautiful work, creatively crafted - well done!” - Clare, Senior Manager

As part of a project with the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group aimed at enhancing patient and family engagement in critical care research at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (C.H.E.O.), I collaborated with a team to interview Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, their family members, and also engaged with pediatrics. Our objective was to bridge the communication gap between ICU patients' families and medical researchers. To streamline the user research process, I contributed by conducting interviews, participating in brainstorming sessions, and developing wireframes. These efforts were directed towards creating a patient engagement platform that facilitates future medical research by fostering better connections between researchers and the families of ICU patients.
During my time at Algonquin College, I worked on a project for a UX/UI course where we focused on redesigning an existing mobile app to improve the user experience. As part of the project, we conducted a case study to understand the current challenges and opportunities for improvement. The goal of the project was to create a more intuitive and enjoyable app for users.
