The experience working with SLiDE Lab was fruitful and extremely valuable, I've learned a lot from collaborating with the team as well as gaining new meaningful relationships, meeting clients with interesting stories and backgrounds. Overall, these projects have allowed me to use my creative and technical skills to support important causes and make a positive impact.
I had the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects throughout my 3-month IBM/SLiDE internship. One of these projects was with the Ottawa Community Benefits Network (OCBN), where I collaborated with their committees to set up a new WordPress website that reflected their new branding and effectively communicated their message.
“ Ly is a very talented worker able to take on new challenges and deliver quality work product. A star performer “ - Kevin Holmes, SLiDE Lab Director
Another notable project was with the National Children's Botanical Garden of Canada (NCBNC), where I created an animated intro and logo for their upcoming video series, 'RavenFlix', and also created virtual backgrounds for video conferences using their branding and logo, as well as assisting with the configuration and optimization of their website.
“I can’t thank you enough – beautiful work, creatively crafted - well done!” - Clare, Senior Manager
As part of a project with the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group aimed at enhancing patient and family engagement in critical care research at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (C.H.E.O.), I collaborated with a team to interview Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, their family members, and also engaged with pediatrics. Our objective was to bridge the communication gap between ICU patients' families and medical researchers. To streamline the user research process, I contributed by conducting interviews, participating in brainstorming sessions, and developing wireframes. These efforts were directed towards creating a patient engagement platform that facilitates future medical research by fostering better connections between researchers and the families of ICU patients.
