Problem
Generative AI has fundamentally changed what we can trust online. With just a single portrait, today's AI platforms can produce hyper-realistic media of real people — indistinguishable from the genuine article. As deepfakes become increasingly accessible to create, our online identities have never been more vulnerable to exploitation without our knowledge or consent.

Solution
POISON is a concept for a mobile app designed to help users take back control of their digital identity. At its core, the app allows users to upload their image and scan for unauthorized use of their likeness across AI-generative platforms — surfacing content they never approved. Beyond detection, POISON serves as an accessible hub for online privacy education, putting expert guidance just a few taps away.

Key Feature

The app's flagship feature, reverse image search, sets it apart from conventional photo apps. Users can locate and report deepfake content via direct links, or enable smart notifications to stay informed the moment new matches are detected. A built-in call-to-action keeps users up to date on evolving AI regulations and advocacy efforts.

POISON also introduces an AI assistant — also named POISON — that functions as a personal specialist in online privacy, ready to answer user questions and guide them through protective measures.

Design Rationale

Neon green was chosen as the primary color for its immediacy and intent: it's attention-grabbing, deeply associated with technology, and carries cultural weight through its iconic use in The Matrix. More literally, it evokes the very name of the app — poison as a symbol of defense against something harmful. The name POISON itself reframes the concept: rather than something dangerous, it becomes a protective agent against the misuse of your image.

A dark theme grounds the interface, reducing eye strain in low-light environments, extending battery life on OLED displays, and lending the app a modern, sleek aesthetic that feels at home in the cybersecurity space.

Logo & Brand Identity

POISON's visual identity is rooted in a deliberate reference: HAL 9000 from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. HAL — the all-knowing, ever-watchful AI — became one of cinema's most enduring symbols of machine surveillance and the tension between technology and human control. By drawing on that imagery for the logo, POISON turns the concept on its head: instead of being watched without your knowledge, the app watches for you. Rendered in neon green against a dark backdrop, the branding feels both familiar and unsettling in just the right way — a visual shorthand for vigilance in the age of AI.
